Silhouette card

Handmade wedding card using wedding couple mask creatind silhouette effect

What I used:

Pre-folded/cut white card

Cosmic shimmer colour cloud blending ink lush pink

Smoothies - latex smoothies/sponge

Fairydust stencils & masks - wedding couple mask

Fairydust stencils & masks - love leaves

Blue tac

Heart stamp

Versamark small embossing ink pad/Versamark pen

Wow embossing powder – hot gossip

Glitter card pink and gold

White card

Double sided tape

What I did:

The first thing I did was position the blue tac on the back of the wedding couple mask, so that it would help keep the mask in place when I blended the ink onto the card and positioned the mask onto the pre-folded card. When I was happy with the position I blended around the edge of the card (like polishing shoes) and then gradely moved in towards the mask and then blended over the mask.

You need to make sure you are gently when going over the mask, so it doesn’t move but also make sure you are firm enough to create the silhouette.

Next, I removed the mask and then blended around the edges of the card again to create a slightly darker border. The best way to do this is to place the card over the top of a mat and blend over the mat as well as the card. Once I had the silhouette I started creating the word and layering.

To start with I measured the length of the word love on the love leaves stencil and the length of the card so that I could then work out how much card I needed for each layer. For the top layer (white with the word love on) I draw a rectangle slightly bigger then the word love and then blended the word on before I cut it out, I wanted the top layer to be as small as possible for the writing to be able to fit.

Once I had the top layer I cut out all layers and put them together using the double-sided tape.

After the layers were ready and put together I put them to the side for later and finished the silhouette design on the card. To do this I embossed three hearts above the wedding couple using hot gossip embossing powder. So, I now had the design finished and my layered card ready to be put together using the double-sided tape. But before you stick it is best to position the layers on the card to make sure all measurements are correct and the positioning of the design works.

And there it is! You can do this with several mask designs and different sentiments depending on the occasion and of course you can change the colours.
